THE SHIRES
4 August 2023
7.30pm performance
The Shires are the UK’s biggest country music export. Their achievements speak for themselves: four consecutive UK top five albums, a quintet of number one UK Country albums, 100 million+ streams, two Gold-certified records, and countless sold-out shows, including their fabulous Gawsworth debut in 2019.
The duo – Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes – formed a decade ago, and have since amassed a legion of fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Breaking through in 2014 with their single Nashville Grey Skies, a playful song about Britain needing its own country scene, their debut album Brave became the first British country album to enter the UK Top Ten. While their follow-up, My Universe, became the fastest selling British country album of all time, reaching the top three in the UK Charts.
More recently they have released a succession of acclaimed hit albums – Accidentally On Purpose, Good Years, and 2022’s 10 year plan.
